The story of Max’s began in 1980 in Richmond Hill, Ontario, Canada, when Mushtaq Raja opened Max’s Restaurant with a simple belief: the best food is made with care, served with pride and shared with the people who matter most. At the heart of that journey was Mushtaq’s signature fried chicken recipe. Through years of dedication, experimentation and a deep respect for authentic flavour, he perfected a distinctive blend of 17 herbs and spices. The result was chicken that was irresistibly crispy on the outside, tender and juicy inside, and full of the unmistakable taste that made it a local favourite. In 1984, Mushtaq sold the restaurant to pursue higher education. After completing his MBA, he returned to the hospitality industry as an executive with Scott’s Hospitality Services Inc. Over a career spanning more than 32 years, he held senior management roles, worked with major food-service operations and owned and operated several restaurants across Ontario.
